Hey Kota Kinabalu, SABAH!! @ Exploring

This is the second day and also the last day in Kota Kinabalu.

Sky bright like 8 at 6 in the morning. And I have mangoes as breakfast. Weird.

Went UMS and simply drive without directions. Haha, I don’t know what can I say. I feel so...speechless...lost till don’t know where. Hahahaha~

Then, we went to get souvenirs.

I was so excited to see all these seafood products, but I got no money to buy. But they asked me what’s that and can it be eaten?! Uhm...okay. They don’t eat these foods. That’s the difference in cultures between ethnic.

Many monkey tee shirts available. Guess which one I bought.
Hints: Very cute cartoon and black in color.

The only thing I want is pearl! No matter how much it is, I must bring back something made with pearl!!

So, I get myself one set of sea water pearl necklace, bracelet and earrings.
I believe they are real. I don't care!!!

Before we leave, we went to nearest beach from the airport, which is Tanjung Aru Beach.

The beach is very very very calm but erm a little dirty. I love it!!

I wish I could wind-sail like them too.

See the people walk till so into the sea already but the water just at waist level. Whoa! Why UMT beach is not like this?!! =(

Ok, time flies and it’s time to back to Peninsular.

That’s all for my short journey in Kota Kinabalu. Real short.
Overall, it’s quite a happy trip as I feel pampered by my new friends. They treat me very nice, more than I expected.

Well, I think I want to revisit Sabah again, for a longer period. I wanna go to Sandakan, Sepilok, and many more districts. Who wants to follow?!

Hey Kota Kinabalu, SABAH!! @ MASUM Dinner

As I mentioned, this is a mission trip.

I’m there for Majlis Anugerah Sukan MASUM 2010.

In case you don’t know, MASUM is Majlis Sukan University Malaysia. So, this is the awards-giving night for all the great athletes from local government universities. Then generally national athletes won the big prizes like the best female athlete of the year, Chai Fong Ying in Wushu is from UPM and the best male athlete of the year, Bryan Nickson in Dive category is from UM. They represent our country to compete with others, win gold medals and make Malaysian proud. They deserve it.

But why am I here? Hahahaha, I also don’t know.

Oh, I am the supporter larr! I’m here to cheer and clap hand as UMT got the best female athlete in kayak and best male athlete in squash =P I am here to eat as well .. kakakaka!~

Menu of the night. The sweet corn soup with shredded chicken and crab meat is super delicious. All the dishes are delicious. I ate a lot until super full and fell asleep before the ceremony end. Haha! So, not much photos I took coz I was sleeeeepiiiiingggg. Zzzzzzz

Mission: Eat, cheer, laugh.
Status: Mission accomplished!

Hey Kota Kinabalu, SABAH!! @ Food

Let’s back to the day after I sent a message to the Almighty Universe.

A staff from sports unit I knew during my past squash coaching clinic gave me a call and asked me to join him to Sabah for a dinner in the weekend.

Whoa!! LOA LOA LOA!!

So I said yes and finished all the assignments before I leave. First time being so motivated to arrange jobs and complete all the works before the others start doing theirs. Hahaha! I even brought notes to study for test.

Studying in the waiting hall as return flight was delayed. I studied in the plane too. Rajin-sekali!

This is a really special trip.

First, travel with strangers. I don’t know my travel mates except for the squash boy. But we are not friends, just know the face but never say hi. And I actually not really close with the staff. I wonder why he chose me.

Second, I am the only Chinese among 6 of us. Very distinctive~

Third, sport-hater like me is going for a national level sport event. Huh...RIDICULOUS but TRUE!

We checked-in the sports hostel. Lame to the max. Well, I keep reminding myself no complain to foc stuffs. Accept it!!

We have 3 hours for free activities. So we got a van and go explore the city in this short time.

The first place we went is the market and that’s the place we went the most =P

I really love the food.

Left: The Sabah biscuits and snacks, kuih cincin and ball shaped crackers keropok amplang. Crispy gila!!

Right: This is the steamed glutinous sweet potato. Texture like dodol durian but it tastes sour! Guess it’s fermented.

This is the closer look of kuih cincin and the ball crackers

The prawns and squids......so large!! See the lobster!!!

I saw this ABC with macaroni. Wow...great combination! Never thought can eat ABC together with macaroni.

Okay, time to back and prepare for the dinner.

Hey Kota Kinabalu, SABAH!!

Hey! I’m back from a trip.........to SABAH!!!

Yes. I secretly travelled to Kota Kinabalu last weekend, to run away from the hectic life.

Bluff you one larrr.
I’m not that rich and have the gut to go wild in that way by now.
It was a short mission trip.

I didn’t expect I will go travel in this critical moment when everyone is rushing report, proposal writing, and doing last minutes study for tests. All this came in a sudden.

I only informed several people about this, to cover me for absence and to check my work if any problems occur. I don’t dare to tell the others. I’m sure I will ‘kena shoot teruk-teruk sampai mati macam bee-hive biscuits’ if I announce my trip earlier.

5 years ago, I’ve been to Sabah for almost a week to visit my brother when he was studying at there. That week was awesome, very memorable!!!

I think UMS is the best building to represent Sabah.
Above is 5 years ago and below is current.

Now I visit this place again. Feel so excited because I heard that Kota Kinabalu has changed a lot into a more advanced city now, I want to see it by own.

As this is a mission trip, I actually didn’t go anywhere as didn’t have much time. Just simply wandering the Kota Kinabalu city.

Sound bored right?

No complain, when all the expenses are fully sponsored!~ Yoohoooo!!! *jump and yeah*

WHOA!!! The Universe did listen to me!

He gives me everything free when my cash flow is seriously run low.
He gives me a place to have a break, relax and refresh my mind.
He gives me 3 days to paint my boring life as much as I could.

All I need to do is pack-n-go-n-eat-n-enjoy.
That’s my mission. And the mission is very well accomplished!!!

I am so lucky. Super lucky. Damn lucky. F**king lucky.
