Wandering around Vietnam – Mui Ne

We check out Vinh Hostel and go to Mui Ne. It took about 6 hours to reach..omg. By the time we reach, it was 3pm already and we were pretty hungry. So after we check in Hai Gia Beach Resort which has a pretty good landscaping and facilities, we walked over to the nearby restaurant for food. Then we rent motorbikes and start exploring Mui Ne.

We take an hour to rent the motorbikes wtf. The price bargaining process is quite interesting and funny. Some of us keep asking for better price and longer rental hours, some keep playing with the helmet, some tak sabar-sabar to ride the bike away before come into agreement with the lady boss (which make #foolish3) and end up we pay USD6 for one. Ok let’s go.

We honk all the way like the local. Honk without a reason and just for fun. If we honk like that in Malaysia, I think I will be hospitalized because of kena belasah or kena langgar.

We go to the fishing village as that is the must-go place in Mui Ne.

From far away, we could scent the fish smell already.

The village is very picturesque with lots of fishing boats and conical containers lined along the shore...

Sunset

The place would be better if the children are not selling souvenirs here.

My friends were surrounded by the children.

No matter how you yell at them and chase them away, they are not giving up and keep promoting their stuffs to you, asking you to buy and offering you a better price. I feel so sorry to them. Children should go to school and play with other kids in the evening, not doing business. Where is the parent?! So pathetic…

The night has come. We simply stop by a resort restaurant for dinner and have our first DIY handmade Vietnam springroll. Fun to play, but not for me. I am not good in DIY stuffs, plus that’s food.

Then we continue to wander around like the local.

The whole beach strip is bars, seafood stalls, guesthouses and resorts.

All the angmos are having seafood and drinking beers.

We good kids have fresh coconut and soda.

Hahaha

Crocodile meat. Poor crocodile was barbecued!!!

And surprisingly we met out new friends from HCM and ChengDu. I’ll let you know how we make new friends in the next post.

One of the very nice shoot, not by me. Starry nights.

Wandering around Vietnam – Water Puppet Show

After Cu Chi Tunnel tour, we come back to HCMC and walk all the way to District 3 for the must-watch Golden Dragon Water Puppet Show.

The show is narrated in Vietnamese and made up of live musicians and puppets prancing around on the water pool. The show is quite funny, eventhough I cannot understand a word but it still make me burst into laughter with the puppets splashing around on the water together with the folk music.

It’s very lively and …3D. You could have a 4D experience if you sit at the first row.

Here are some photos

I like the music played by this man

The parade

boat-rowing competition

the dragons

The show is very unique and it showcased various parts of Vietnamese culture. I really enjoyed the show. You should make this your evening activity as well.

Wandering around Vietnam – Cu Chi Tunnel

Cu Chi Tunnel is a must visit placein HCMC and how can we skip it.

You should pronounce Cu Chi as“koo-chi”, not cuci.

On the way to Cu Chi, we stop ata factory to see eggshells painting. Not only eggshells, seashells are alsoused where they cut and polish and carved into paintings.

One of the finished eggshellspainting.

Alright, continue to Cu ChiTunnel. According to the tour guide, Cu Chi Tunnel is the underground tunnelnetwork constructed by Vietnamese fighters during war for independence. Thetunnel system helped them to move around and live underground for yearsundetected by enemies.

Before we go underground, wewatch a short introductory video showing how the tunnels were constructed. Wewere brought to see the small entrance hole used by Vietnamese soldiers to hideand escape in war.

The larger one

One of the trap…once turnedopen, that’s all and sayonara.

The tank and the soldiers

The shoes they wore

“Souvenirs” left by the US army.

At Cu Chi, you can go shooting. The shooting range here allows you to feel how it was like to fire a bulletfrom guns like M16 and AK47. The explosion thundered through the forest. I didnot shoot but I could go deaf here.

We went to Cu Chi Tunnel to havea little crawl around.

The tunnel is very tiny. I hadto half bent and walk-crawled my way forward. It was dark inside. I couldn’timagine how the Vietnamese soldiers live in this small tight tunnel for years.

That’s all for my Cu ChiTunnel journey.

no-where = now-here

世界没有末日,我还是搭上了这艘诺亚方舟
no-where = now-here
