Wandering around Vietnam – Cu Chi Tunnel

Cu Chi Tunnel is a must visit placein HCMC and how can we skip it.

You should pronounce Cu Chi as“koo-chi”, not cuci.

On the way to Cu Chi, we stop ata factory to see eggshells painting. Not only eggshells, seashells are alsoused where they cut and polish and carved into paintings.

One of the finished eggshellspainting.

Alright, continue to Cu ChiTunnel. According to the tour guide, Cu Chi Tunnel is the underground tunnelnetwork constructed by Vietnamese fighters during war for independence. Thetunnel system helped them to move around and live underground for yearsundetected by enemies.

Before we go underground, wewatch a short introductory video showing how the tunnels were constructed. Wewere brought to see the small entrance hole used by Vietnamese soldiers to hideand escape in war.

The larger one

One of the trap…once turnedopen, that’s all and sayonara.

The tank and the soldiers

The shoes they wore

“Souvenirs” left by the US army.

At Cu Chi, you can go shooting. The shooting range here allows you to feel how it was like to fire a bulletfrom guns like M16 and AK47. The explosion thundered through the forest. I didnot shoot but I could go deaf here.

We went to Cu Chi Tunnel to havea little crawl around.

The tunnel is very tiny. I hadto half bent and walk-crawled my way forward. It was dark inside. I couldn’timagine how the Vietnamese soldiers live in this small tight tunnel for years.

That’s all for my Cu ChiTunnel journey.
