Short trip to Kota Bharu ; )

When talk about Kelantan, what is the first thing come to your mind?


Tik-tok-tik-tokkkk… Okay TIME’S UP!


Wayang kulit? Gasing? Batik? Wau? Museum? Buddhist temples? Coconut trees?


Haha.. sorry to tell you that there will be no such things in this post, except the coconut trees!! That’s a Friday and it’s weekend holiday for Kelantan. Many places are closed.


Last weekend, I went to Kota Bharu aka KB, the capital of Kelantan, to visit a very old friend of mine which we know each other since 7! Gosh…It’s already 15 years!! He is the only friend from the same place who studies in east coast. I’m in Terengganu while he is in Kelantan. I’m doing food science, but he is in medical school, USMKK.

He likes KFC and ABC. He likes anything end with C…such as Pharma-C, Teh-C, Vitamin C, OCBC, ICAC, PWTC……hahaha…just kidding!!


I took a bus and head for KB right after finished blood sampling in the afternoon. I should step down from the bus at Terminal KB but I didn’t due to some funny incident. So Nic picked me up at the terminal with a very “auspicious” name, Langgar!! Choi~


When I saw Nic, I was like wow…I travel for 3 hours to come here to visit you, man! The feeling of meeting a buddy in a place I never been to is so marvelous~ I wonder where the hell I got this bravery to come here alone huh?


USMKK is the place I stayed. The campus is big, but the hostel is just so-so. UMT hostel is better than that. Fuhhh…finally has something better than the others. Special thanks to Nic’s friend, See Pei who is willing to “adopt” me and share her bed with me. She is very conversable, we chat a lot although we just know for a short time.

Nic and friends brought me for dinner, explored KB town and then to KB mall.

My new friends Christina, WanYi, BaoLing (I don’t know how to spell…hehe) and the photographer, Juon is missing! They are all very nice and easygoing =)

KB is full with shopping centers and restaurants. That’s so great for a shopaholic and gluttonous person like me!! They asked me why I want to go to KB mall, I said I want to check out how thin is the wall~ haha! Do you remember the freak accident that happened at KB Mall? A car hit the wall and plurged from the roof top parking area into the mall..

Well I forgot about the wall after I stepped in the mall because it was too great for a girl who stays for years in KT!!! Arrrhhh…how I wish there’s a KT mall like this in KT. I don’t wanna talk about it anymore! Jealous jealous~

Kelantan is a state with majority residents of Muslims and the state government is different from the other states. Their culture and rules are kinda conservative and different. I found some interesting things here.

We normally see quick counter and normal counter. But this time is Female-only Counter, Male-only counter, and Family-counter. And every signboard must come together with Bahasa Jawi. Very unique Kelantan, isn’t it?!

The next morning, we departed to Rantau Panjang with new friends, NianJie, ahKit and WeiMing. These 3 guys are real funny enough to make me burst into laughter for the whole journey. I’ll tell you more about them later.

Rantau Panjang is a duty free shopping zone situated about an hour away from KB. I think I could shop longer if I bring along my umbrella! The sun is too bright too hot ~ Nic and I ended our shopping spree with new shoes!!YEAH : )

We passed by a unique building on the way back.
When we see this gate, I’m sure 99% of us will say this is a temple!

NO no no! It’s not a temple~ It’s actually a mosque, Masjid Jubli Perak aka Masjid China. This is the first ever unique chinese-style mosque I see in my life~ Mmm...TTI should build one monument of this!

I totally agree with Nic’s statement: Do not judge a book by its cover!

WeiMing brought us to his secret place where he used to himself there with his lover.

Nah, coconut trees! Haha. That’s PCB, Pantai Cahaya Bulan, one of the popular beach in Kelantan! His “secret place” is actually another side of PCB and it’s considered as the private beach of a resort. Somehow, I don’t think PCB is a nice beach. Pantai Tok Jembal or Pantai UMT is better than it larrr! Yay..another credit to UMT!

The guys are having fun with those commando-liked games beside the beach! While I can only do this~

Now introducing my new friends!

Pink WeiMing aka Pu-jie (Nic started this first) is the very dangerous guy from Kedah who has a built-in ultrasonic detector!! He can hear what I whisper! OMG! Not much to say about Yellow Nic who like everything that ends with C, so we just skip larrr. Grey NianJie is the Muar guy who will keep silence when he’s hungry and poor him always get bullied! Blue ahKit is the Ipoh guy who taught me some new lame “terms”. Yes, real lame! All of them encourage girls to eat chocolate!! *thumbs up*


Before I leave the town, they brought me to an outlying town for Thai cuisine. There’s a wut opposite the restaurant. And the restaurant was right beside a railway. This small place is very peaceful with small number of people. I forgot what’s the name, uhmm…

So I left KB and say goodbye to all my new friends at 8pm. Nic said this is the first time he sent a friend off at bus station, plus in a raining night! Haha : )

I felt very energetic on that night. So once I reached KT, I called my friend Rocky to pick me up and we went McD for supper! Wahahaha…fat fat fat~ played with his IPhone’s GPS to go home. Suprisingly, his GPS speaks Cantonese!!! Orz

Everything is back to normal now! Go to lecture as usual, do assignments as usual, eat same food at same stall…but there’s another new exciting days recorded in my journal. And I got many new friends of future doctors!!
