Kelantan trip 2

During the last time I visited Kota Bharu, my new friends brought me to Rantau Panjang for duty-free shopping and Pantai Cahaya Bulan for the tranquil beach.

This time, I go to Kelantan with some of my friends to visit temples (wat) and museums, and hunt for food! So I call this a religious-and-cultural-trip, also a makan trip.

In the capital of the state of WAU (wow), Kota Bharu, we go to the museum zone.

We go to Istana Jahar (Museum of Royal Traditions and Customs)

We go to Handicraft Village and Craft Museum

We watch Istana Balai Besar. This entrance is for royalty and officials. But don’t know why it makes me think of the entrance for elephants in the zoo. Hehe. Just kidding :)

Then we travel to Bachok for Wat Phothikyan Phut Thak Tham. It is also called the Double Dragon Temple as the entrance to the temple has a pair of dragons.

Errr...there’s also a dinasour. Weird.

The Statue of Buddha

The wishing tree

I had wrote all my wishes on it and throw up to the wishing tree. One time done! Wish all the wishes may come true :)

Then we drive back to Kota Bharu for lunch. We have the local favourites ayam percik, nasi kerabu and kuih in a restaurant by the road side.

My favourite si-hum (cockles) with ayam percik sauce.

Next we go for cendol pulut tapai!!! Oh-Emm-gee…my favourite TAPAI! But errr..just so-so.

After the heavy lunch, we travel to Tumpat.

There are many Buddhist temples in Tumpat.

The most well-known is Wat Photivithan. It houses the largest Reclining Buddha status in Southeast Asia with 40m in length and 9m in width.

Next is Wat Machimmaram with its Sitting Buddha on top of it.

I like this one. No see, no listen, and no speak

Then is Wat Pikulthong. There are two Buddha statues, One is a gold mosaic Standing Buddha statue, the other is the huge Standing Buddha. Also the others statues.

Well, it’s already evening after all the visits. Very hungry already! So we go to the highly recommended Restoran Chengmai for Thai food. Not bad a…quite delicious. But I still prefer the one I went last time where situated beside the railway. We also celebrate an advanced birthday for one of our friend before we go back to Kuala Terengganu.

The wonderful trip should end in a smooth way. But, we failed to make it.

Our car had a punctured tire, on an empty road at the midnight. Alaaaaaa…somemore this is the first time the driver change a tire. Ganjiong lorrrr. There’s a lot of funny stuffs happened when we change the tire. Hahaha!

So, the wonderful trip ended in an unexpected way, yet it’s still a great trip.
