Sungai Lembing

I always see people recommend to visit Sungai Lembing for Panorama Hill, also known as 林明 (Ling-Ming). Since my friend, Hooi promised to bring me to anywhere I want to go, I make it as my must-go place.

Before I go, I browse through web for photos and reviews about Sungai Lembing. Sungai Lembing is a small town which used to be tin mine last time. Now, people claim that we can see the best sunrise view with sea of clouds below your feet on Panorama Hill.

photo from web

We went Kuantan right after our clams dinner! It was already 12am when we reached and checked-in Hooi’s “villa”. I was so tired and the next morning we have to get up at 2am.

HEY!!! I thought I was here for holiday??!!

Nobody wakes at 2am. Haha!! Ended-up we departed to Sungai Lembing from Kuantan at 3.30am. When we reached Sungai Lembing, it was around 4.30am, and the place was already full with tourist buses and people. The sky is still dark, the wind is so cooling. With our torches, we started to go up the hill.

I thought it was a tracking route, who knows, it was stair steps. To reach the top, we had to climb stairs!! Aiya...I don’t want to climb stairs la!! At first I was tired, but after a while, I felt so energetic!! So I rocketed myself up to the hill. There were also many people going up the hill, the most are aunties and uncles. I really need to salute them for having the will and stamina to reach the top!!

We reached the top at around 5.30am. And not long after that, many people reached and the place turned into a market with all the noises. People were eating, smoking, listening songs, shouting, talking like bargaining prices when buying vegetables in market...............very annoying!! They ruined the peacefulness and calmness of the hill.

I was very disappointed and unhappy with it.

The sky is still dark, the wind is so cooling

After an hour of waiting, the sky turned bright without sunrise view. The sun should be behind this mountain, but was too cloudy and the sun was blocked. Sigh...too bad!

All the people on the hill today don’t have the luck to see beautiful sunrise, but we had the sea of clouds. Look at the clouds under us...clouds, clouds, clouds.

Honestly, I do not have much feeling to the clouds. I was like “Uhm..so-so lor” when others cheering that how nice and how fantastic the clouds are. I guess, maybe because I had too high expectation on how beautiful it is, or maybe due to I go to Genting Highlands too often?

Traffic jam when we came down. Our legs were trembling when we reached the ground. I wonder why come down is more tiring than hike up the hill...

Then we went for breakfast. There’s a noodle stall here, Ah Fung Noodles. It is famous for its Yeong-TauFu and noodles which made with water from mountain. The food is not to say very good, but not bad also, if only it can be a little bit less salty.

Then we headed for Gua Charas at Panching near Sungai Lembing.

When we see the staircase, we opened our mouth big big and “HARRRR?!”... want to go home already la~~ Staircase again???! NO idea, still need to walk up the stair to get into the big cave.

There is a sleeping Buddha inside the cave.

It was dark inside the cave, lighten up by spotlights. The pathway was wet and there were bats in the cave. I love the atmosphere here! Quiet, dark, mysterious... I couldn’t explain my feeling to it. I just love the cave with stalactites.

Here’s the Sleeping Buddha.

And a “Guan-Yin-Ma” look-alike statue, it was actually a small rock on the big rocks.

We actually want to go to Rainbow Waterfall. We drove on the very bumpy track full of stones until we reached a stream. To get to the waterfall, we had to ford the stream, hike and wade some rivers. Then we gave up. If only we know earlier, we will come with 4-wheel drive. And it was already too late to book a guide with transport, so ended up we didn’t go. Plus, I don’t think a cloudy sky can make rainbow to appear.

So, it’s okay! We see the scenery from web’s photo lorr =P

Overall, the trip was well worth, although we missed the sunrise and Rainbow Waterfall. But at least we found the lamest Kolam Air Panas!! Don’t wanna talk about this kolam larrr...

next time you go, then you will know!

Rompin' in Rompin @ Fishing Trip

This is my last day in Rompin and this will be my last post about Rompin.

You can read these before continue reading:

Since Kuala Rompin is a popular destination for sailfish’s sport fishing, I want to see sailfish! I want to catch them, touch them, kiss them, take photos with them, and then release them back to the sea by myself!

The weather was not really good.... The sea was not safe for sailing...with huge waves.. But I really wish to sail on the sea. We beg Xiang to bring us out. Finally he agreed but with one condition: It must be safe to sail! If not, we come back and go home sleep!

So I prayed!! The weather please be nice, full with sunshine! The sea please be calm, safe for me to conquer you!

Guess what?! It was a very fine day! Clear, sunny and breezy! And the sea was with small waves, not really rough... far better than yesterday! Yoohoo =P

I’m DAMN LUCKY ~~~ Thank you so much Mr.Sun!

But I started to feel afraid, afraid of having seasick!

Thanks to the sunny day, the guys are more afraid of UV and sunburn, than us, the girls... I was so casual to go with a short tee with short pants, and refused to wear a cap and apply sunblock. But after all the kind advices and “threaten” that it is faster to get sunburn at sea, I finally changed a full-sleeved shirt, got a cap and sunglasses (but I didn’t wear them), applied SPF50 sunblock at every exposed parts of my body, gather at Rompin River Chalet, and let’s go to the sea!!

Xiang gave us the official shirts of Royal Pahang Billfish International Challenge. Whee~ present present! According to him, this is a world-class event which held on August yearly. People will compete by see whose gets the most numbers of billfish.

Yeah, I’m the skipper! So I gonna drive the boat, and everyone on board must listen to me, I am your captain!! =P

The guys are preparing fishing gears

We went very very very far...I also don’t know where I am. I was surrounded by the sea, look right look left look front look behind...all BLUE

They were fishing and trying to get me a sailfish!

Isabelle’s surrendered after a while we stopped on the sea. She was having seasick, vomited the dhal, lie down to feel better and rest.

It’s been hours we were on the sea. The wave was getting rougher, started to become choppier.  I really respect those who live on the sea....

I was started to have the “feel” of seasick already. Kenji kept talking to me to distract me of the dizziness, while I was trying to feel better by sitting cross-legged and bended my body, like a frog!!

HERE!

At last, I leaned by the boat and surrendered, bluekkkkk...... “donated” some liquids to the fishes!!

After a while, I was so energetic already wo!! Hehe...then I go fishing! Haha...it was fun to use the fishing rod! Now I knew how to hold the spinning pole, how to spin the reel and control the bail, how to release and tighten the line, how to release the fishes back to the sea.

Not forgot to mention!! I GOT 4 FISH, but Xiang asked me to release them as they were so small. He wants BIG fish!

Xiang said sailfishes here are protected, so we must release them back to the ocean after catch. He told many things about sailfish and ways to fish. And only I realize, they don’t use worms as baits! Ahahahaha~ they use little fake fish, and also paper thin fishing spoons like these!

Also they use balloons to hold the lines and deliver baits to further places to get larger fish. If the balloon disappeared, means the fish is hooked!

Learned new things =P

Like this, picture from net

I didn’t take much photos as if I move too much, I was afraid of seasick again!

He changed many locations and tried to get sailfish but failed. It was too wavy during monsoon. The lovely creatures and large fishes don’t want to come out. Yeeeee... I wanna touch their “long-sword” and their large fin. I want to hug sailfish as return for seasick! Ishhh... : (

Never mind lar, at least we get a small shark and many other fishes!

Since we couldn’t get sailfish, so...see through web photos lar!

It’s the end for the mission of catch-and-release sailfish after for almost 6 hours being surrounded by sea.

The guys were tired and slept on the way back

Remember that I’m the skipper?

Wooo..driving a boat is very exciting and fun! It’s much easier than driving a car.

I have radar navigator to guide my way, I have compass to tell me direction, no divider, no traffic jam, no traffic light, no JPJ.....just a little bit bouncing when the giant wave rolled over. Still fun!! =P

We landed safely before the sun set! Thank God and also thanks to Xiang~ After a laksa and ABC treat at Pantai Hiburan, we had our dinner then. These are the fishes we got, and lastly went into our stomach! Very delicious~

is it because we caught the fishes by our own? Hehe...as the proverb says, every potter praises his own pot.

I’m satisfied with the sea fishing trip...it could be the best if I can really hug a sailfish! Nevermind, I will come again next year if my Tioman trip is on!

And I think, I'm really a lucky one! as for other anglers, they need to pay SGD590 which is about RM1300+ per head for 2D1N fishing package! Xiang only asked us to refuel his boat tank, and helped him to wash boat...but ended up playing with water! and enjoyed collecting clams, fishing, and having fun like owning a private boat!! See...I'm lucky isn't it?!

Special thanks to Hooi for letting me stay for days in his house and brought me to places I never expected to go.

Special thanks to Hooi's friends, Xiang, Kenji and Piao for accompanying us for days, giving us great memories and chances to do things we never knew we can do.

I feel grateful....really love and appreciate it! *smile* =P

Rompin' in Rompin @ The lalaS day

If you ask me to describe my trip in Pahang, I would say this is definitely neither a luxurious relaxing trip nor a delicious food trip. I went in to forest, went up to hill, went out to sea, and went down to river. It was a journey to the green and the blue!

.........Continue from my previous post.........

Rompin has a great name, which let people rompin’ in here! Hehe... just joking!

Hooi introduced his friends to me. Captain Xiang owns some boats. Kenji has a dream to be a star. Piao is with a tail on his hair.

Due to the huge wave of 3 metres high, Xiang’s clients cancelled their fishing trip. Since he got nothing to do, he suggested to go out for lalas and clams! Hooi said he requested for many times but failed. The first time I come, but I got the chance to catch clams!! Whee...I think I’m lucky!

We went out to the river to catch and collect clams!!! I like to eat clams, but I never catch them by myself. I was very excited...

The sea was wavy

but the river was so calm. Weird!

Captain Xiang stopped at somewhere. Then I was “forced” to get off the boat to get wet! Wow wow wow! I was kind of phobia at first, I thought the river was deep...but not at all. I think too much~ The water level was shallow enough to reach my waist, best for short person like me!! The deepest was at their shoulder level, which is more than enough to drown me!

all wet :~(

We used our foot to find the clams. Stepping on the sand is so comfortable but kind of “geli” Haha...so nice so funny!

I keep searching for the lovely clams...soaked in the river for hours, kicked until toes started to cramp, in the end, I only managed to get two! Wahaha =)

This is mine, with the small creature on it.
I forgot what is that, they mentioned a name...not hermit crab...don't know what!

Since I couldn’t get Clam no.3, I gave up and let them to do the job. It was another funny part when I was trying to get back into the boat. Hahaha! Can’t stop laughing when think about it. That’s the disadvantage part of being short!!!

While resting in the boat, I laid myself to be up-side-down. Feel so quiet and calm. Suddenly, questions popped out in my mind. My mind started to be imaginative.

Does this place have crocodiles? How about Piranha?

WEH! I don’t know how to save you weh if you all were attacked...don’t know how to drive the boat back to jetty lehhhh if I could survive...how ar?! haha~ just a little bit of thinking too much!

We went back to the land in the evening, we got a ¾ full of pail. Then SAPU all the clams we collected!! Haha yum-yum! Feel satisfied :)

In the night, we wandered around the town like. We went for fireflies.... Surprisingly there were fireflies at some trees along the path. I thought we can only see fireflies at riverbank. Glad to see the dazzling lights of fireflies like sparkling stars at the trees........how lovely~ (NO Photo of fireflies)

I started to love this place!

......to be continued....
