The Power of Nutrition: Better Health Tomorrow

When I was a primary school student, I wanted to be a doctor.
When I was a high school student, I wanted to be a pharmacist.
When I was waiting for the result, I wanted to be either a nutritionist or a dietician.

All of the ‘ambitions’ are not my ‘ambition’
I actually want to enter the field of mass-communication, I will be a journalist or doing some media jobs.

Well, now I’m an undergraduate Food Science student, major in food service and nutrition. But I still confused about my future career.

The best career is to get married to a successful rich man and my daily job is to sit at home goyang kaki or go out for shopping-spree and travelling.

Yes! My biggest ambition~

Ok. Come back~

Last weekend, we organized a Community Nutrition Intervention Programme as a project for the subject of Community Nutrition.

Date: 5 Mac 2011
Venue: New Café, Hostel University Malaysia Terengganu
Target subjects: 50-60
Theme: The Power of Nutrition: Better Health Tomorrow

It’s a great experience for us as this is the first time we apply all the knowledge we had learnt in these years.

The first counter is Registration and Dietary Record Questionnaire.

Next, check your blood pressure! Too high or too low blood pressure is not good for health!

Then go to the anthropometry counter to measure height, weight, waist and hip. BMI and WHR will be calculated to determine weight status.

Please ‘donate’ some drops of blood for blood glucose level test.

Don’t hesitate to pee into the bottle and go for urine test. Luckily I’m not the one to handle this, just feel gross to see 60 bottles of urine! Haha!

After all the tests, come for consultation.

We analyze your tests’ results, tell you what should you do, and give you advices. Talk till throat dry and cough like wth. And people really ask some weird questions which make me said “Errr…let me think first”…but luckily still can help. To trust me or not, to follow my advices or not, up to you!

Most of the students are in normal BMI but underfat. Many have less than 20% body fat. For the underweight people are even worst! Some only have 2-3% of fat in their body. Wow!!! I wonder what is below their skin and how could they survive if starving for days~ where’s the fat!??

As for myself, I’m chubby, fleshy, and fat right?! But I’m in the middle of normal BMI and body fat is at the borderline of underfat and healthy range ~ wahahaha XD

So I conclude my status like this:

HEALTHY! But FAT with WATER RETENTION and EDEMA!

Yes! This must be the reason why I looked so fat~ hohoho

Lastly, we have education zones for you!

We have Malaysia Food Pyramid, food portion suggestions, posters about healthy eating behavior, healthy body weight management, desirable lipid profile and blood pressure management.

Community Nutrition Intervention Programme is a success!!!! but I think I'm still very shallow in nutrition X(

Dr. praised our efforts and treat us chocolate cakes~

*uhmmm...chocolate cakes? High calories worrr...don't eat, don't eat! or else gain weight later*

*Nevermind, I'm a kind person! I am willing to sacrifice myself to eat for all of you laaa*
So, 2 went into my stomach! XD *satisfied*

Anyway, let’s move for health!! Yay =P

PS: Some photos are taken by H.M.Leong =P *clap hands*
