Memory Lane back to World War II

As I promised, I am going to blog about another museum in Penang.

*Drum roll*

War Museum!!!

It is located in Batu Maung, Penang. It is originally a military fortress built on a land of 20 acres in 1930’s by the British to protect the island from enemies. You can see many interesting thing for a war here, such as underground military tunnels, intelligence center, halls, offices, canon firing bays, cook house, lock ups, medical infirmary and many others.

First, get your “passport” and map. The entrance fee is RM20 for adult. Then get ready to go back to MALAYA and see every fort relics.

Inside the underground military tunnel

Trying to crawl along the escape route but I was wearing a skirt
(I don’t know they will bring me there, ishhh!!!)

Crawl till the end then climb up the ladder and you will see this. VERY deep!!

Get out from the tunnel, and there’s the anti air-craft pit.

SHOOT!

Nuclear bomb? Whatever, it’s a radioactive stuff

Canon

The gun firing bay and my friend at the bay

Me in the pill box.

Pill box is built to protect and camouflage the troops from being seen by army from the sea. Soldiers who in charge for observation in this pill box must be taller than 6 feet to look out of the box. So I am disqualified, as I’m only 5 feet plus a few inches (ahem ahem!).

War game park

Open theater as a special place to remember the sacrificed ones for our country, formerly used to store food and supplies

Monument to remember the death

Last time they chopped head here. Huhuhu haaaa~

(Left) General Yamashita Gallow with a fake head hanging there
(Right) Torture tool used by the army. Very cruel

They chopped head in this way, on VERY THICK "wooden chopping board"

Victim of sexual slavery of Japanese troops.
I admit I was frightened by this mannequin.

This is a great place for you to know history, culture, military gadgets and military operations. It was a total different experience for me as I can see things never seen before. There is also night tour for visitors. I'm sure it will be more exciting if walk in the night with only a torch.
