"Where’s the nearest place to go for weekends break?”
"Sekayu!”
"Very hot lehh, anywhere to play water?”
"Sekayu!”
"Nothing to do, so bored. What can we do?”
"Go Sekayu!”
Obviously, Sekayu is the most common and the best place to go for every UMT student. I looked at the photos uploaded by those who went, I listened to their wonderful experiences…since my year I. I only managed to go to Sekayu right after I finished year III. I hope it’s not too late.
Each time I visit my Tai-chi Guru, he tells us Sekayu is a good place to swim and to play with water. And it is also a good place of death. He tells us how many times he witnessed and saved the drowning people.
"Kepala Air" means sudden large quantity of water flow from upstream or waterfall into main river. It often occurs after heavy rain at the upstream.
He always warns us to be extra careful when in Sekayu, because this 'upstream phenomenon' is very dangerous, and Sekayu is also kind of haunted.
*FYI, he has psychic abilities!!!*
Hundreds of stories of ghosts I have heard. The spirit of drowned victims trapped under the water and turned into water ghosts. They cannot be reborn as human unless they find someone to replace their position. So they try to drown people!!!
So scary right!!! T_T
What the hell is Sekayu and where it is? It sounds like a creepy place huh…
Okay, I am talking about Sekayu Waterfall which is located within the Sekayu Recreational Forest in Kuala Berang, Terengganu. We took about 50 minutes drive from Kuala Terengganu to reach there.
This is Sekayu. SE-batang-KAYU!
*Hehe..just kidding larrr*
It is basically almost the same as the others recreational forest, but there is a herbal garden AGAIN and an orchid garden.
Countless species of trees are everywhere.
Giant insects are everywhere and stairways all the way.
Many Malay teenagers waded into the water and swam while families had picnic there. Well, go to waterfalls for a swim and picnic is the cheapest activity and entertainment to have in kampong area especially in this state without much entertainments.
We stopped here and had some refreshment.
The water was not even thigh deep, so shallow, more like a pond.
The Malay teenagers on the other side played till very
The shout was getting louder.
No! Something went wrong.
Some girls began to scream “TOLONG! TOLONG!”
"Wei, they are playing or what?"
"Did someone drown? Where? Got people struggling meh?"
"Oi, play or real one? Where’s the drowning person?"
Nobody help. Nobody care.
We were at the opposite side and it's quite far to reach them, but nobody on their side help. The girls keep shouting for HELP. They looked at us.
the red circle is the spot where the girls drown
"TOLONG LAHHHHHHH! AHHHHHH"
OMG! It’s real! Someone is drowning! Now I can see a girl struggling in the water. But I can’t swim well! I can’t do anything to rescue her~
Only one of us can swim very well. So he jumped in and swam to the girl. The girl was like floating with no movement at all! OMG!
Then my friend swam back. He said it’s pretty deep there. It’s like suddenly very deep. He was actually very scared too and afraid of sinking. Well, it was always stressed to not risk one’s life to save another right?
Fuhhh! Luckily all are rescued and saved! We saw the girls hugged each other and cried. One of the drowning girl was too exhausted (I guess) and laid on the rock.
The drowning girls with green and pink are coming back to the shore
We left and told a staff about the incident and he went to inform the in-charge people. They said that is the most happening spot where people drowned.
Deng-dengggg...~ hou cheh (evilly) a!!! scary right!
Sigh! Luckily it didn’t turn into a real tragedy. I can’t imagine what if we were not there today. Will someone save them? Somehow, it made the day a memorable day, very difficult for me to forget.
Don’t mess with WATER
