National Museum Bangkok

We went to National Museum Bangkok after The Grand Palace.

The objective is to learn Thai history and understand more about Thailand.

The entrance ticket cost 200baht. At first I didn’t enter because I was kiamsiap lor, not willing to spend on a museum. Anyway, special thanks to my lecturer for giving me her ticket as she was tired after the first zone. So she asked me to continue her journey. Yay!!! Super duper lucky me~

The National Museum originally was the personal museum of King Rama IV with his collection of antiques and royal gifts. The museum was then opened by King Rama V in the year of 1874 as a public museum to exhibit relics and the royal collection of King Rama IV. The museum is then developed to be National Museum Bangkok in 1933.

The exhibition areas are divided into three main galleries which is
1)Gallery of Thai History,
2)History of Art and Archaeological in Thailand,
3)Fine Arts and Ethnology.

The Gallery of Thai History is located in the front of the Sivamokhaphiman Hall where it exhibits the kingdom of Sukhothai period, Ayuthaya period until new Bangkok period. No camera is allowed in the gallery. No photo to show.

Phutthaisawan Chapel
This is the chapel where prayers enshrine the Buddha Sihing.

Samranmukhamat Pavilion

The Red House where furniture and decoration from early Bangkok times was shown

Collection of the Fine Arts and Ethnology is displayed in the old central palace building.

Buddha figures, stones, and artifacts outside the building. Also with guardians.

In the building, there are wood carvings, musical instruments, palanquins, Khon masks, old weapons, old royal transportation, gold treasures and other artistic and cultural collections. . They are very unique and much different from Malaysia. There is a gigantic elephant howdah in the building, but the security guard always following me behind, so I can’t curi-curi snap a photo of it. Too bad! It is really very impressing.

Due to I went in late, I did not have enough time to visit the other buildings such as the Royal Funeral Chariots, Maha Surasinghanat Building and several minor pavilions. Everyone is waiting for me outside the museum already.

Took photo with Thai’s post box. Hahaha

Before we went to our first university visit, we went to MBK for lunch, and I bought a handbag just after 10minutes we were in the mall.

Lunch @ McD. Sawadikap

of course I ate pork burger! no way/where to find to Malaysia ma =) yummy
